Baroque I.

New task at school: baroque. I got so excited. I'll have to design and sew a three-piece mini collection, so I'm doing some research. I found amazing baroque style wallpapers as inspiration, and this pretty medallion-like detail caught my eyes. I love the collars from that era (not exactly the ones like a mill-wheel, those look quite funny. I mean the lace ones, with pearls, the real kitschy ones...), and I'd like to make a real medallion like this to make them special, or use it like a print on something.
I titled the post baroque I., cause I'm sure I'm gonna share plenty of my ideas and photos during the semester.

String-girls

Aren't they pretty? It was a task at school to do some research in folk-arts, and find something you see fantasy in. Among others I found some string-patterns like the ones below. And it just clicked in. So obvious! Just turn some around, match a top and a bottom. And you get pretty princesses, so easy to make, to sew on your skirt. Or dress. I will probably try them on one of my fur hats.

By the way it's still raining. aarrggh.

today

I made pancakes in the morning, and pasta with garlic sauce for lunch. My father just arrived home from Belgium, and I got some apple-flavoured beer (fav kind), and sand from the seashore. (I collect sand from all over the world. I'm quite proud of my Gobi-desert sample... not like i had anything to do to get it.)

About the outfit:
This wasn't the plan, but turned out satisfying me. I found the fake fur collar in a second hand shop some weeks ago, it probably was on a coat, but I found it lying lonely in a basket (full of treasures). It's my new true love. So special and surprising on everything. I realized that i can put a scarf in it and make a bow. Now that scarf is changing with my mood.
Actually most of my outfit is second hand/vintage, my blouse is an old ripped sleeping gown (which I cut, but not going to fix the holes on it. I'ts like an old house with broken windows and dusty faded armchairs with moths.)

how can one survive a cloudy day?

create a blog.
and share a picture of your color-clashing pjs, which you wear to make you smile.
is there an expression like print-clashing? that would be closer to what i mean.
anyway. now i'm off to draw some women's silhouette from the late nineteenth century.

i can't even imagine what a lovely day it could be.
